Calling all crafters – opportunities during 2010

The 2010 Soccer World Cup presents many opportunites for the craft industry. But it's important to know the rules and regulations before you start marketing or selling your products, so you don't find yourself at the wrong end of a lawsuit.
The 2010 Soccer World Cup presents many opportunites for the craft industry. But it's important to know the rules and regulations before you start marketing or selling your products, so you don't find yourself at the wrong end of a lawsuit.
Crafters keen to take advantage of opportunities created by the 2010 Soccer World Cup, may be interested in attending information meetings hosted by the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) in Cape Town.
The CCDI will host three workshops on the key aspects World Cup organisers hope to emphasise. These are place, heritage and culture, legacy and event. There is a R100 registration fee for the five full-day workshops, which will take place from March 16, April 20 and May 25.
The organisation will target various events by calling for products, holding briefing sessions and select products for showcasing. These events, trade shows or exhibitions include the Cape Town Jazz Festival in April, the Tourism Indaba in May, the Cape Town Book Fair in June, Soccerex in November and the Design Indaba in February 2010.To register for the five-day workshops, contact Karen Stewart on (021) 460-8379 or stewartk@cput.ac.za.
For enquiries relating to 2010, contact CCDI project officer Thandeka Tyatyantsi on (021) 460-8380 or tyatyantsit@cput.ac.za.
