| Sunday Times Article - Wednesday, October 15, 2008Basetsana Kumalo, President of the BWA, attended a forum that presented an opportunity for Black Business to engage and question the President of the ANC Jacob Zuma one-on-one about any topic of relevance and importance, given the current state of the nation. During the event, fundraising took place, and in her personal capacity, she pledged R10 000 to support the country's constitutional democracy and it's electoral process, which is her constitutional right as a citizen and a businesswoman, as she was invited to the event in her personal capacity as a businesswoman, and not as the President of BWA. The Sunday Times inaccurately reported that Basetsana pledged this money on behalf of the BWA. It is not the policy of the BWA to support any particular political party and the BWA did not and has never before pledged any money to any political party. THE BWA BOARD

Dear Sandy & ladies of the BWA, Â I would like to extend a sincere thank you to the BWA Succeed Campaign for giving me & my company a tremendous opportunity for growth. I consider it a privilege to be part of a group of highly effective and astute business women like yourselves, and appreciate and embrace every opportunity to learn from all of you. Â I gave the feedback last night in our debriefing meeting, but would like to tell the success story to those of you who did not share it last night: Â ~ When I started with the Succeed campaign, DevCom had 3 employees and was focused on per hour billing systems. We had a turnover of approximately R360 000 per annum at that stage. The company has grown in the past 18-months to having a full range of products, internal systems & procedures, a team of 8 employees, and a projected turn-over of appox. R1.5 million for this financial year. Â ~ As an business leader, the mentoring changed my thinking about myself as a business woman, my position in the business space, and my role as leader of the team. ~ The mentoring has had a huge ripple effect - I have made an effort to implement the suggested actions with my team, my clients and in my personal life. Â DevCom has recently won 2 international business communication awards... The IABC Africa Quills (for measured communication). Please read more about our achievement at http://www.dev-com.co.za/newsf.php?id=12. Â We have also formed a partnership with Errol Goetsch from the Wits Business School who brings a strong financial and economical element to our product, making it a complete solution for the donor and non-profit market. Please be on the lookout for the innovative systems of the Centre for Social Impact - watch this space! Â In a nutshell, embracing the BWA Succeed Campaign has given me and my team great opportunities to achieve our dream: Using the power of communication to transform the non-profit industry to have 120 000 healthy businesses implementing projects with measured results, improving quality of life. Â Sandy, thank you for investing your time pro bono into this project. It has changed me as a person, and my company's growth is testimony of your impact. Â Michelle - your investment in my life and my thinking as a person is priceless. I will always hold you in high regards as a mentor, learning for life with the tools you have empowered me with. Thank you. Â Lata - your insight into teams, feedback techniques and your investment in the DevCom team was incredibly valuable. You have touched me and my team with your personality and expertise. We use the Competency Dictionary every day - thank you! Â This has been a great honour to me, and I feel blessed by being supported and learning from the BWA circle every day. Â With thanks and warmest regards, Â Mari Lee CEO _____________________________________________ Development Communication Solutions
