Calling all accommodation owners! Prepare for 2010

Provided by Business Partners Ltd, South Africa's leading investor in SMEs

FIFA is working through its appointed agent, MATCH, to provide non-hotel accommodation for visitors. MATCH will contract a minimum of 55 000 rooms in hotels and non-hotels in the host cities and satellite areas, which are areas where accommodation of 200 rooms or more can be secured for visiting fans, with easily accessible transport to and from the host cities.

To validate the signing of the MATCH contract, an establishment needs to be awarded a star grading from the TGCSA. Tourism Enterprise Programme (TEP) is providing financial assistance in terms of star grading fees to previously un-graded SMEs. The available assistance pays up to 50% of the fee during the first one or two years, and up to 25% in the third year. To qualify for assistance, entrepreneurs have to register with TEP. TEP facilitates the growth and development of SMEs in the tourism economy, resulting in income-generating opportunities and sustainable job creation.

Benefits of contracting to MATCH as an accommodation provider for the 2010 FIFA World Cup:

  • SME accommodation owners will be official accommodation providers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup
  • Establishments will be advertised in the 2010 Accommodation Brochure, which will be produced and distributed to fans who attend the 2009 Confederations Cup in SA
  • Accommodation establishments will be able to market themselves locally and internationally as contracted accommodation providers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup
  • Permission to use the phrase ‘A MATCH-accredited 2010 establishment’.
